In the 1960’s, when I was a kid, the NUMBER ONE anxiety star was definitely Vincent Sign! Upright, he started scaring us out of our shorts in the 50’s, what with HOUSE OF WAX, THE Flit, THE TINGLER, and (best of all, in my humble), HOUSE ON Horrified HILL. But it wasn’t until he joined forces with American International Pictures and Director/Producer Roger Corman that Vinnie carved his niche as a right American panic icon! THE Plunge OF THE HOUSE OF USHER started it all, the first in what’s near to be known as “the Poe cycle.” Released on tape in the mid 1980’s (an unsuitable transfer), HOUSE OF USHER (its title, once the credits roll) has never looked better than on this pleasing DVD. Colors are rich, sound is crystal certain, really, it’s like seeing the film in a movie theater! And Vinnie, oh, Vinnie, he’s in dazzling build here as the tragic Roderick Usher. Plagued by an over-heightening of the senses, he can’t hold to hear loud noises or smell anything stronger than the most fair perfume (yet, it doesn’t prevent him from strumming a few off key notes on his mandolin!), Roderick is a tragic figure indeed. And what an imposing perceive! Breathtaking, even! This is Vincent Price’s most startling and compelling characterization–snow white hair, blue eyes, pale complexion, and that oh-so-very pleasant diagram of speaking and acting. I loved Hammer Films, with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, but Vincent Mark was somebody we could call our our acquire, a fair national like! Corman’s direction is solid, and he makes the most of his minute cast (only 4 people) and budget–but everything looks so luxurious and expensive! You’ve got to remember that AIP was famed for cranking out cheapjack dusky and white quickies for the juvie market–so HOUSE OF USHER was an utterly drastic change of prance for them. And it paid off, big-time! PIT AND THE PENDULUM (also available) soon followed, with TALES OF Alarm, THE RAVEN, and MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, et al,waiting in the wings! Can’t wait for them to all hit DVD–and if MGM’s Midnite Movies claims them, we can demand quality, quality, quality! Oh! I should mention that Corman does an exciting and silly commentary! Attractively packaged, moderately “PRICED,” THE Plunge OF THE HOUSE OF USHER gives you MUCHO bang for your buck! Vincent, you may have departed our mortal world in 1992, but your legacy is alive and well! We’ll never glance the likes of you again, dim to say!

By far the best of all Vincent Sign / Roger Corman adaptions of the works of Edgar Allan Poe, this is really a fright film that should be regarded as equal to the 30`s classic dread movies like Dracula or Frankenstein (it certainly is scarier than watching Karloff sail around in front of painted backdrops) . In fact, “House Of Usher” is not only a straight thriller, it is also a very poetic movie, it has a trustworthy script, a haunting accumulate (especially in the crypt sequence) and a very well crafted place develop (unbiased notice Corman`s opulent spend of colors) . If the climax is somewhat hurried it is more than made up by the hideous atmosphere of the film. When I watched it as a child in the early eighties, it was one of the few aged chillers that really afraid me to death ….. and it will certainly entertain everyone who enjoys to inspect really top-notch vintage apprehension thrillers (Vincent Price`s morbid characterization of Roderick Usher is worth a few shocks alone) .

Personally, I mediate that this is “Sabrina’s” best season. Sabrina Spellman uses lots of magic as she tries to solve the family secret and catch her official witches licenses. One of the best season’s overall. Sinful your fingers that the DVDs will demonstrate it in all it’s glory. <3.

When I first read on the internet, that the sabrina DVDs would be edited, I never realised this as being a mammoth scrape. I hardly noticed anything in season two and in season one the ‘a girl like you’ song was missing, which was a bit crap to obtain out.

So anyway, after watching the edited versions of the first seasons, it didn’t seem to me as too prick until I got season three. But season three has more problems then the previous seasons: Phantom Planet was credited on the dvd for an appearence that you could not stare on this version. Before the band should have appeared, this version fair fades to murky and you derive the Sabrina introduction. Then a lot of music gets replaced by simple instrumental songs that don’t even seem to fit to what is happening. The halloween episode had a immense moment in where the “monster mash song” was played. Also, this song was removed.

Apart from noticeble songs missing (and a few scenes) this dvd state is colossal and the indicate itself is stout fun to glance. If you know the demonstrate by buying the dvds, it might be current to you and you wont have to pain about anything. But fans that know the note from the recent airings will definetly miss a few things and some people will disfavor that more then I did.

Another thing that isn’t that valid about the dvd-set is, that there are no extras whatsoever. Not even appealing dvd menus or a dinky commentary. If you care for the display and are impartial pleased of being able to spy it, you’ll live with that too . ;)

THEY ROCK !!!5
I’ve owned these puppies for 6 months now and use them with a vintage 65 watts per channel Technics class A amp, no subuwoofer, for listening to ROCK music only. Once the break-in period is left behind -though I think it’s mostly your ears that get used to the speakers- the apparent ¨harshness¨of the sound ( which I believe is more of a bad rap this brand had with older models than anything else) gives way to the most defined and clear sound these pair of ears have ever heard. And it’s the incredibly lively midrange -guitars and brasses sound AWESOME !!- what provides the proverbial Klipsch signature sound.

Bottom end is almost surgical in it’s flatness -read total absence of coloration- and it’s not that that is a bad thing, it’s only I’m used to speakers that are a tad ¨boomier¨for effect, even when I know it’s not the ¨right¨ thing to expect from audiophile speakers; it’s only a matter of tastes. With Klipsch, a kick-drum sound is as dry as it was recorded, period.

Upper treble is decent; cymbals have good presence, it’s not overwhelming or harsh but is not the most neutral or natural-sounding eitheir; nothing to worry about there though, I like it anyway and don’t think it could be be topped in its price range.

Stereo imaging is fantastic; the Tractix horns do and incredible job dispersing everything above 2100 hz over a 90 horizantal and 60 vertical degrees conical area which is way better than any other kind of tweeter can deliver.

At 95.5 db/w/m , the efficiency is very high, so you won’t have to force your amp any more, resulting in ZERO distortion and longer life for amp and speakers.

What I liked the most was the materials used in the manufacture of the drivers; there’re no paper or plastic involved, at all. The dual woofers are made of injection-molded GRAPHITE (read carbon) and the tweeter is aluminiun (read metal). Read durable.

I have thrown everything I got at these beasts at ear-bleeding levels(Venom-Slayer-Slipknot-Ozzy-Cannibal Corpse-Napalm Death etc) and they took them all with a smirk; is that everything you got,DUDE ?!

I had to choose between these and the dual 8¨JBL towers at the same price and upon listening I immediatedly relized the difference in favour of Klipsch. They ROCK, They’re better built, louder, sturdier, more compact and versatile…..I LOVE them !!

The build is very good to excellent, nice finish, black w/ titanium coloured plastic, veneer-coated,internally braced , heavily fiber-glass padded thick mdf fiberboard enclosures with the best individually adjustable feet I’ve ever seen make these speakers a breeze to set up on any kind of floor you might have, and they won’t tip over unless you are really a moron. They also have front-firing bass ports which is a blessing since they are less sensitive to placing in the room. Most speakers of today are rear-ported.

My only complaint ? I should have got myself the F3 for less than a mere U$ 200extr a bucks, serious s…t those, I’m tellin’ya !!!

If You Want Some Great Speakers, This Is The Place To Be!5
After accidently pushing the wrong key and having all of my description erased, I’m back for a 2nd shot. I bought a pair of these Klipsch F-2’s 2 weeks ago. If I could describe these speakers in two words, it would be: Holy Sh#*t. These speakers kicked my butt. When running a good reciever or amp, you will get the best out of these speakers. I have recently upgraded my home theater system, but before I bought these, I had the Klipsch KG4’s. These were not bad speakers at all and they sounded better than most newer speakers that I have heard even though they were 25 years old (as old as me!). The reason I got the F-2’s was because I heard the Synergy Series at Best Buy a few years back and I’ve had my heart set on them ever since (even though I heard the F-3’s). I had a crappy reciever to today’s standards, which was the Sony SRT-DE595 or something like that. No HDMI inputs or outputs, no Dolby True HD or DTS-Master, and it made the Klipsch KG4 horns sound more harsh the louder it got. It was good for what I used it for, but after buying a new reciever from Pioneer, I now know what power I have been missing. For those curious, I bought the Pioneer VSX-919AH-K and it made those KG4’s sound amazing! But back to the product on this page, these Klipsh F-2’s are just like musical angels to my ears… 400 watt angels. I can hear everything and more now, and sometimes little details in the higher range that I never noticed before. Do not be fooled by the dual 6 1/2″ woofers! I tested them with a subwoofer test CD and I literally thought that my 10″ subwoofer was on before I noticed I hadn’t plugged it in. I heard frequencies so low that the air conditioner in the kitchen was making a waving sound by the time it reached my ears, and my girlfriend and I couldn’t understand each other as I blasted the sub test. Now, I like good bass response, and this exceeded my expectations, but what I really liked was how clear the high frequencies cut through even during the most intense bass. And everything has a flat response, I love it! I like hearing things as they are ment to be heard, without coloring and added bass or treble. I’m not really good at describing things, as you are probably thinking that right now. If you don’t beleive me, find some place you can check them out at and be prepared to be blown away by these speakers, and the Synergy Series in general. I have not heard $1000 or $20,000 speakers before, and I don’t intend to anytime soon, but I don’t understand how it can get better than this, especially for as much as these speakers cost. It’s really just amazing to me! Watching blu-ray movies and listening to music will not be the same anymore :) These speakers will have a home for a long, long time.

Unbelievable for the price…5
Ok, true audiophiles will probably not be satisfied with these. After all, you can get them (a pair) for under $800 and there are speakers out there that go for a lot more. So, if you are someone who is an expert at defining the quality of a set of speakers then go about your business.

Now, if you are basically a neophyte to speakers in any way, and you have the ability to put together a sound system that will rock your socks off when you are playing great music, then what you want to do is get you a set of these speakers, and match them to a great amplifier or receiver (I own an Onkyo A-9555 amplifier in the black color). Most people cannot lay down $2000 for a music system, let alone simply a pair of speakers. But for less than $1500 you can have a very good audio system here, and these speakers will also work with home theater ideas as well.

On the speakers themselves here’s what I can tell you: they are magnificent. These were an upgrade from a pair of polkaudio TSi300 speakers and the difference is undeniable. Crisper, more clarified sound across all ranges with tremendous highs and amazing mids. (If you desire to get greater depth at bass might I recommend a pair of Cerwin Vega CLS-12 speakers to run along with these) The bass is quite good for speakers if this kind and the experience over the sorts of music I tend to like (rock and metal) comes across very good, if just a bit on the bright side. I am currently playing music with a crashing depth of sound and it sounds absolutely killer. Potent and refined, with generous gravity. For the price they cannot be beaten. There’s not any better speakers on the market for the price.

So, grab you a pair, get you a nice power source, hook them up, and rock out.

Customer Reviews:

Great case!5
Bought the case in anticipation of our trip to Mexico because I wanted an entry level camera to take scuba diving w/ me. I had tested the camera out in the pool first with no problems whatsoever and christened the case (without the camera at first; a must for every camera case) on a 100 foot deep dive. The case held up great (though it was really buoyant without the camera in it). I ended up leaving my SD1100 in the housing for most of the vacation. I took it in the pool, snorkeling w/ Sea Turtles, on several scuba dives, jumped into cenotes (mexican fresh water sink holes) from a height of about 17 feet with it and used it extensively playing in the water on the beach with the kids. It was awesome shooting video while scuba diving too. The dive shop we used sends out an underwater videographer who puts together a video for you to buy. I liked shooting my own video much better.
I see that they sell weights to go w/ the case. Totally unnecessary in my opinion. With the camera in the housing, the case became only slightly positively buoyant. This is a plus in my opinion as I can go after something that floats up, but would be really upset to see my SD1100 and $170 case head south to crush depth.
Couple of reminders. As with any piece of dive gear (and I consider this housing to be such), you have to follow some simple rules. Every time I put the camera in, I would check the O ring for debri. I’ve read reviews where people had poor results and I can garantee, if you have a break in the seal, you will get water penetration. I also keep a silica packet in the case at all times. I read about condensation occurring and this will be as a result of either trapped humidity in the case (definately easy to do in the tropics) or wide temperature differences between the air in the case and the ambient air temperature.
One note though. Remember that without a real good sized external flash that almost most underwater pictures will be dominated by the blue tones and colors, so set your expectations accordingly. You won’t be taking National Geographic pictures with this camera underwater.
In the end, I returned from my vacation w/ tons of photos that would have beeen impossible w/out this case. A fantastic addition to my camera gear. LOVE IT!

Works Wonderfully5
Took this to Kona when I went snorkeling. I was a little nervous about my camera getting ruined. Nothing to worry about! Got incredible pictures and neck strap made this easy to keep in the water with me. Definitely read thru the instruction book to know how to get a good seal and use the lubricant. I’m so glad I purchased this!

Good value, easy to use5
Pros: Easy to install around camera. Gives access to all camera features. Takes sharp, clear pictures under water or in air. Has helpful warnings about what to watch for to ensure no leaks. Though obviously quite a bit larger than the naked camera, still surprisingly compact. Looks durable and well-made.

Cons: Has loose parts that could get mislaid when not actually in use on the camera–needs a drawstring bag or something to keep everything together.

Notes: haven’t yet tested it under more than a little water.

Customer Reviews:

Great Wireless Multi-Function!5
I spent about a week researching for just the right multi-function printer for my needs. I own a small business with about 30 employees so I needed more than an inkjet but didn’t require a ‘corporate’ $1000+ version either. I needed fax, scan, copy, and print capability with laser printing and built-in wireless capability. Suprisingly, there are not that many printers on the market that can give you all of these in one package. Originally I was going to purchase the Brother’s MFC-8870 for around $500 which all the reviews on the internet recommend, but I found this while browsing around and realized that it had just come out a few weeks ago. Although there were no reviews out yet for this new printer, it was considerably less expensive than the 8870 and the only thing I seemed to be losing was auto-duplexing so I made the purchase. It took about 15 minutes total for me to set up an ad-hoc wireless printer setup and everything works great. The scans are nice, the printing is very crisp and clear even in very small fonts. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is the fax which I won’t be using much. I really can’t say anything bad about this product. Sure it would be nice to have a legal-size flatbed, auto-duplex, and 64mb memory (instead of the default 32mb) but for the money this can’t be beat. Overall, this seems to be a really great product at a great price. I highly recommend this if you need a 4-in-1 with wireless capability. Definitely the best on the market for this niche.

Excellent For Small Office - Great For Envelopes5
I replaced my Brother MFC 7420 with this MFC-7840 and am very happy with the upgrade. It does everything I need and is small and quiet in my small office. It has a straight paper passthrough for envelopes, which works great. Read below for a comparison to other similar models.

I’ve had a Brother MFC-7240 for 2 or 3 years when the fuser went out last week. A new fuser is $150 + $75-100 to install, so needless to say, I decided to buy a new all-in-one machine. My Konica Minolta 2430DL color laser printer also conked out at the same time and I investigated replacing both with a color laser AIO. After not having much luck finding one of those that could easily print envelopes, I decided to stick with two different machines. In retrospect, I’m glad I did - it’s good to have two printers around to back each other up just in case. (If you’ve got really light duty needs, consider the Samsung CLX-3160FN, which I came across in during this first shop. It’s dirt cheap for a color laser AOI. Very small and very quiet, but not solid enough for a small office load.)

After reading up on monochrome laser AOIs for much too long, I narrowed my choices down to about a dozen in the $200-$500 range. I refuse to buy something I can’t see and play around with first, so I went shopping at local stores to see the models I chose in action. I went to Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax. Tried for Circuit City and Best Buy also, but believe it or not, they don’t carry ANY monochrome laser AIO machines in their stores - only on-line. A manual feed and envelope printing are a must for my use, and reviews I read were conflicting, so I took a big stack of envelopes to test the machines out myself. I also took my own originals (a purchase order and envelope - both with various sizes of text and graphics) so I could compare apples to apples.

Most machines I tested had decent quality copying. There were differences, but all were acceptable for b&w general office work. Of course, copying was the only feature I could really test at the store. They all warmed up quickly and most were quiet enough. Here’s what I found…

Brother MFC-8460 is too loud, big and imposing for my small office and took a little longer to warm up.

Canon 4270 has duplexing, which I was in the market for, but a funky half-tray for paper that was hard to load and looked like it could have problems down the road. Other than that, I liked it a lot (my second choice). Printed envelopes well and looked stylish.

Canon 4150 printed the envelope crooked and the coverage was too heavy and “grayed” the white envelope. I imagine this might be improved when changing settings from the print software to adjust for the thicker envelope paper.

HP1522NF printed the envelope uncrinkled, but it made a LOT of noise curling around the paper feed, which worried me. It also “grayed” the white envelope without being able to select a “thick paper” option.

HP M2727 did not print the envelope well at all.

Samsung SCX-4725fn has an easy manual feed, but toner on my graphics flaked off the envelope. It copied very quickly and quietly.

Brother MFC-7840w and MFC-7440n are pretty much the same except the they are different colors and the 7840 is wireless and better for networking. They both have backs that open so labels and envelopes can pass straight through and not wrinkle or curl at all.

I ended up with the Brother MFC-7840W from OfficeMax for $299.00. (It was $249 at Staples and Office Depot with a mail-in rebate - it’s a long story why I couldn’t get back to one of them and save the $50.) Not only did I like this machine best in my test, but I was happy with my old MFC-7420 and hope this updated version will treat me as well. The one thing I really wish the 7840 had that is does not, is duplex printing. If it had that, it would be the perfect machine.

I did a USB installation to Windows XP, which was simple and took about 45 minutes, but unfortunately the copier and scanner did not work. I called tech support and got through quickly. They couldn’t help me, but quickly bumped me up to the next level of tech support. This next level was actually staffed with a real engineer who had the machine in the same room with him. After a few diagnostics he had me run, he determined that the logic board was defective and volunteered to send me a new one. I opted to return it to OfficeMax, who exchanged it with no problem.

I just plugged the new machine in and didn’t reinstall the software. Now everything works perfectly and I’m very happy with this machine.

Manual Feeder Not So Good !3
This is a very nice printer and I agree with the other reviewers positive feedback. But there is one problem I have found for those who print forms and envelopes via the manual feeder. When the printer is in sleep mode and you put a piece of paper in the manual feeder the printer wakes up and does a small grab of the paper. Unfortunately this small grab puts the paper off center so if you are printing on form paper it is a real nuisance. A solution may be to wake it up first by printing something else, then put in your form paper and print before it goes to sleep again, but again not the best solution. Also the lack of ability to put multiple envelopes in the manual feeder I find is a weakness. All my older LaserJets could at least handle 5-6 envelopes in the manual feeder. After reading many reviews though I find that trying to find a MFP that can handle envelopes is a major problem in itself and this printer is no different. I also noticed the toner that came with the printer did not last for nearly as long as advertised, it started showing toner low very very soon!
